The history of Jiquilpan, Michoacán, deserves to be carried into a better future, which is why we created Manos Mayek, the first regional foundation, focused on offering new opportunities.

Jiquilpan managed to become a cultural, agricultural, and commercial center for the entire country during pre-Hispanic times, thanks to its vast resources and ecosystems. Agriculture, cattle raising, and agave processing are some of the main economic activities of the region, which can also boast a history full of important Mexican figures, such as the former president Lázaro Cárdenas del Río, as well as governors of Michoacán, namely Dámaso Cárdenas and Carlos Betancourt, the famous international actor Damián Alcázar, and renowned artists and poets such as Feliciano Béjar and Ramón Ocaranza, all of whom make our town an even more emblematic place.
